It's weird since Bumble Bee and Beach Cliff together under the same conglomerate, but they do taste different.I guess they really are two different recipes.I like Bumble Bee's mustard version better than any other label's mustard flavor.(odd that I prefer Beach Cliff's hot sauce sardine version to anyone elses.)It's true sometimes the mustard can be a little weaker and oilier than other times. I suppose lot to lot variance.Still as a whole they are delicious.I want a taste of mustard with mine, not a thick solid mustard paste, which I suppose some expect.These are true sardines also, not some herring-type steak called a sardine, like some versions try to pass off.Great on toast with mayo and a razor thin, see through transparent slice of onion, and a goodly dash of black pepper.Served with a kosher dill pickle spear, and a bowl of tomato soup, or plain buttery potato soup, and you've got yourself some fine fare.Great with green stuffed olives also on a Ritz cracker.Flavors really work together.About 5 or 6 little fellers per can.You can barely squeek out 2 sandwiches if you go thin with your spread like we do.When I went to open the first can the pull ring fell off, not a great start. The insides of the can look like mush, half pieces of normal sardine at best. No order to the packing like I see in almost every other brand I've had. I weighed everything I could fish out with a fork to be under 70 g, a bit lighter than expected. The flavor however was on point. The mustard wasn't very spicy, and the fish was a bit watery. For less than a buck a can the taste is pretty darn good. For reference this is my first mustard sardines after trying about a dozen different types in olive oil. This is NOT premium sardine. It is an easy space filler for the right price and the mustard helps make it palatable without dressing up.Would be a super easy sandwich to make. These things are crying out to be slapped between bread when generally I feel like sardines would be better suited to lay on some steamy jasmine rice.Can't seem to find these locally anymore so this purchase was well worth it. Don't know why but I enjoyed that each individual can in the case was overflowing with hot sauce as opposed to the store-bought purchases which always seemed to be lacking.I've been on Weight Watchers for over a year now and these have been my "go to" lunch. The case of 18 for under $20 was a bargain, and I've gone thru over a dozen cases. It now costs about $25 so not too bad. They taste fine so no complaints there. If you like sardines, you'll enjoy these.I have no idea why I’ve been craving sardines, but I remembered liking the ones in mustard sauce when I was a kid. The first can I was really impressed with the look of them, but I was a little disappointed in how mild the mustard flavor was. However I enjoyed them much more the second time I had them and I figure if desired, a little mustard, salt, or whatever you want can be added to enhance to your liking. I’ve been having these with saltines and really like them. Really happy with my purchase.I opened a can as soon as the shipment arrived. I didn't even wait to get myself a fork. I wanted to know the taste and texture without confusion in my mouth by adding rice or crackers. I was pleased! The mustard isn't overpowering like bottled mustard. It gives it a nice slightly-mustard taste without being vinegary. I like that. I will definitely buy these again. Buying the 18 count box is cheaper than purchasing 18 cans at the individual-can price in any store. If you like sardines, this is the way to buy them. And Bumble Bee is definately the company to buy them from.I purched these last summer; nothing like what I had been buying at local store. sardines were not stacked as in pass; more like dumped and then crushed with sealing lid. Plus, the label on causes the opener to brake more often than not.
